Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1+ years in a revenue cycle role.
• 3+ years in medical billing, claims, and/or insurance processing.
• Knowledge of government, managed care, and commercial insurances claim submission requirements.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and health insurance terms.
• Knowledge of EHR operating systems and electronic records.
• Proficient in computer systems and keyboarding.
• Strong attention to detail and quality output.
• Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient insurance eligibility and update accounts in Epic.
• Interact with insurances and payors to obtain authorization per internal/external policies.
• Research missing or erroneous information on accounts using portals and outreach.
• Review/edit claims and appeals before submission to clearinghouse.
• Analyze and resolve claim issues per applicable rules.
• Monitor work queues for claims needing resolution.
• Provide CRM support.
• Use Onbase to work department documents.
• Correct rejected claims from scrubber/clearinghouse.
• Review explanations of payments and determine denial resolutions.
• Investigate payor underpayments and follow up on unpaid aging claims.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and stay current with billing regulations.
