Job summary

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama is seeking a Claims Research Associate Trainee to participate in a structured five-phase ICMS program, focusing on medical claims processing and inquiry resolution. Training spans classroom, benchmarking, and fluency phases with timelines up to 13–18 weeks per phase before transitioning to the IACS area within Claims division.

The role begins full-time onsite during training, with potential hybrid work after training.

Qualifications

• Experience interacting with customers
• Strong communication skills to interpret and convey information orally and in writing
• Experience in a position requiring problem solving and analytical skills
• Experience in time management and prioritizing tasks
• Experience researching information using computer or reference materials
• Willing to work set schedule
• Experience in a keying environment
• Experience adjusting to changes due to business needs
• Claims coding and ICD knowledge preferred

Responsibilities

• Process medical claims and resolve inquiries according to business rules and service level agreements
• Review claims for errors and verify benefits/delivery of payment to the appropriate plan
• Communicate with customers via inquiry, email, and phone to ensure resolution across company areas

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Bachelor's Degree preferred
