Claims Investigator (Part-Time)

Newark, NJ area

Responsibilities/Requirements

Responsibilities:

• Conduct multiple types of complex claims investigations
• Submit daily updates on case progress
• Manage time effectively
• Maintain sufficient client billable hours
• Write and record detailed statements
• Conduct scene investigations
• Submit professional, client-ready investigative reports
• Perform background/activity checks and courthouse research
• Drive safely and remain alert during driving duties

Requirements:

• Licensed or eligible for licensing as a Private Investigator in New Jersey and surrounding states
• At least 1 year of full-time report writing experience in field investigations
• Experience with face-to-face statements during investigations
• Willingness to travel within a multi-state coverage area
• Experience investigating product, auto, general liability, workers' compensation, disability, life insurance, and death claims
• Flexibility to work varied hours, including nights and weekends
• Reliable, fuel-efficient vehicle with minimum auto liability insurance
• Possess or willing to purchase a digital recording device and a Windows laptop with Microsoft Word and necessary equipment

Educational/Experience Qualifications:

• Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice or related field
• Experience as a Private Investigator or detective
• Military or Law Enforcement background
• Knowledge of insurance law and underwriting
• Self-motivated with accountability for results
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work under stressful and sensitive situations
• Typing speed of 50+ words per minute
