Job summary

Auto-Owners Insurance in Michigan invites students entering their junior or senior year to join our claims support team. You will investigate and assemble facts, determine coverage, evaluate loss, analyze liability and assist with payments or denials, gaining hands-on experience.

You will study policies and forms, participate in investigations by phone, mail and on-site, and support agents and policyholders. This is a paid internship with a starting rate of $18 per hour.

Qualifications

• Students must be enrolled and entering junior or senior year in college.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to resolve complex issues and interpret data.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and assemble facts, determine policy coverage, evaluate loss, analyze liability and pay/deny losses.
• Become familiar with insurance coverage by studying policies, endorsements and forms.
• Work toward resolution of claims, attend arbitrations, mediations, or trials as needed.
• Ensure that claims payments are issued timely and accurately.
• Service the needs of agents, policyholders and others.
• Handle investigations by phone, mail and on-site investigations.
