Mid-Continent Group invites aspiring insurance professionals to join its Claims Internship program in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The internship provides hands-on experience in claims handling, investigation, and negotiation, with exposure to various functions within the organization.

As a participant, you will learn to handle initial coverage analysis, engage in seminars, and complete projects that build a strong insurance foundation. A hybrid schedule supports academic commitments.

Qualifications

• 3.5 preferred GPA, with a 3.0 minimum GPA for consideration
• Current student in a bachelor’s degree program with Insurance & Risk Management students encouraged to apply
• May 2028-2029 graduate preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Claim handling assignments including initial coverage analysis, first contact, investigation, and technical writing
• Work with the Claims Operations team to request medical canvases, work in the litigation database, and other operations team functions
• Learn and perform functions utilizing the various claims systems, programs, and databases
• Various reading assignments, self-study courses, case studies, and projects, on a diverse range of topics, providing a foundation of insurance knowledge and overall professional development
• Participation in seminars and workshops, including Claims College and Great American University offerings
• Participate in special projects within the organization
• Interns will participate in activities with other interns and attend lunch-and-learns to develop business knowledge

Mid-Continent Group is accepting resumes for Claims Internship candidates starting employment in May through the summer of 2027 with a hybrid work schedule in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The Claims Internship program includes a combination of activities aimed at giving the intern a full understanding of the Claims department and how they interact with other functions within the organization. The program is a potential pathway to a career in insurance. Internships typically consist of a 10-week period over the summer.

Responsibilities

Within the Claims team, interns will work on meaningful assignments and gain exposure to a variety of claims functions, including claims handling, analysis, investigation, and negotiation. To gain a broader perspective of the business, interns will have the opportunity to meet with individuals who work in other functions within the group. Responsibilities will include:

• Claim handling assignments including initial coverage analysis, first contact, investigation, and technical writing.
• Work with the Claims Operations team to request medical canvases, work in the litigation database, and other operations team functions.
• Learn and perform functions utilizing the various claims systems, programs, and databases.
• Various reading assignments, self-study courses, case studies, and projects, on a diverse range of topics, providing a foundation of insurance knowledge and overall professional development.
• Participation in seminars and workshops, including Claims College and Great American University offerings.
• Participate in special projects within the organization.

Networking

Interns will participate in activities with other interns of Great American Insurance Group, employees, and leaders throughout the organization. In addition to the on-the-job learning that takes place, interns also attend lunch-and-learns to further develop their business knowledge. The interns will also participate in the organization-wide Claim Intern Program, meeting regularly with claim interns across the divisions and lines of business.

Qualifications

• 3.5 preferred GPA, with a 3.0 minimum GPA for consideration
• Proven leadership skills through work experience (prior internship/co-ops a plus), campus involvement, and/or extracurricular activities
• Superior communication, analytical, planning, and organizing skills
• Self-motivated, as the nature of the internship may have virtual aspects
• Current student in a bachelor’s degree program in a wide range of majors, with Insurance & Risk Management students encouraged to apply
• May 2028-2029 graduate preferred but not required
