Job summary

AIG is seeking a Claims professional in Scottsdale to proactively direct and resolve Defense Base Act claims, managing indemnity, medical and legal aspects with a focus on timely, cost-effective settlements. The role emphasizes strong customer service and proactive fraud review, working with internal and external stakeholders including brokers, experts and attorneys.

Applicants should understand Workers Compensation regulatory requirements and possess negotiation skills.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of legal, regulatory and litigation and procedural requirements for Workers Compensation claims.
• Specialist knowledge of Defense Base Act claims is preferred.
• Experience in settlement evaluation and negotiation.
• Policy language skills enabling accurate and consistent policy wording interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise in proactively directing and resolving Defense Based Act claims in line with quality standards.

• Utilize investigation, claim handling, litigation, and claim evaluation skills to ensure timely cost-effective settlements.
• Provide prompt effective customer service to differentiate AIG from competitors.
• Identify and review suspect/fraudulent claims, following guidelines.
• Maintain regular contact with internal/external stakeholders and build relationships with clients’ lawyers and injured workers.

How you will create an impact

• Provide technical expertise in proactively directing and resolving Defense Based Act claimsin accordance with best claim practice approach, in line with AIGs quality standards.


• Manage indemnity, medical and legal aspects of assigned claims using available resources.


• Utilize investigation, claim handling, litigation, and claim evaluation skills to ensure timely cost- effective claim settlements and protect recovery rights when applicable.


• Provide prompt effective customer service to differentiate AIG from our competitors.


• You will also proactively identify and review suspect/fraudulent claims on a consistent basis – dealing with such claims in line with our clear guidelines.


• Your work will involve regular contact with internal stakeholders and brokers, (medical) experts, clients’ lawyers, injured workers or their legal representatives. We want you to build effective relationships with internal and external customers, while acting as a point of referral.


• In addition, you can use the claims experience you gain to help improve our products in collaboration with colleagues in underwriting.

What you will need to succeed
