Qualifications

  • Knowledge of legal/regulatory and litigation requirements for Workers Compensation claims.
  • Specialist knowledge of Defense Base Act claims is preferred.
  • Experience in settlement evaluation and negotiation.
  • Policy language interpretation for accurate wording.
  • Strong problem-solving and time management abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise in directing and resolving Defense Base Act claims in line with quality standards.
  • Manage indemnity, medical and legal aspects of assigned claims.
  • Utilize investigation, claim handling, litigation, and evaluation skills to ensure timely cost-effective settlements.
  • Provide prompt effective customer service to differentiate AIG.
  • Identify and review suspect/fraudulent claims per guidelines.
  • Interact with internal stakeholders, brokers, medical experts, clients’ lawyers, injured workers or their representatives.
  • Build relationships with internal/external customers and support underwriting improvements.

How you will create an impact
  • Provide technical expertise in proactively directing and resolving Defense Based Act claims in accordance with best claim practice approach, in line with AIGs quality standards.
  • Manage indemnity, medical and legal aspects of assigned claims using available resources.
  • Utilize investigation, claim handling, litigation, and claim evaluation skills to ensure timely cost- effective claim settlements and protect recovery rights when applicable.
  • Provide prompt effective customer service to differentiate AIG from our competitors.
  • You will also proactively identify and review suspect/fraudulent claims on a consistent basis – dealing with such claims in line with our clear guidelines.
  • Your work will involve regular contact with internal stakeholders and brokers, (medical) experts, clients’ lawyers, injured workers or their legal representatives.
  • We want you to build effective relationships with internal and external customers, while acting as a point of referral. In addition, you can use the claims experience you gain to help improve our products in collaboration with colleagues in underwriting.
What you will need to succeed
  • Knowledge of legal / regulatory and litigation / procedural requirements for Workers Compensation claims.
  • Specialist knowledge of Defense Base Act claims is preferred.
  • Experience in settlement evaluation and negotiation.
  • Policy language skills enabling accurate and consistent policy wording interpretation.
  • Lateral thinking and the ability to problem solve and develop new ideas to improve working practices.
  • Strong communication, time management, administrative and report-writing skills.
