Job summary

The University of Pennsylvania is seeking a Claims Administrator to coordinate essential administrative functions related to professional liability claims, maintain a comprehensive claims database, and prepare reports for actuaries and internal stakeholders.

You will handle opening/closing of claims, recording reserves, and managing data requests while supporting the claims management team with accuracy, confidentiality, and timely processing.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree and 3–5 years of experience or equivalent combination.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively and use sound judgment.
• Confidential materials handling with strong verbal & written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail; be organized, proactive and able to solve complex issues.
• Ability to prioritize work and meet multiple deadlines.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Access, Word and Excel; able to learn new software.

Responsibilities

• Maintain claims database and input/update reserves and reports to carriers.
• Coordinate claims setup with filing party and verify insurance coverage.
• Manage responses to data requests from brokers, auditors, carriers and actuaries.
• Prepare reports, charts and printouts on claims and loss experience.
• Assist with weekly indemnity payments and vendor payments.
• Support reserving processes, CMS reporting and liaison with IT/vendors.
• Respond to inquiries related to claims and subpoenas.
• Provide support to risk management staff as needed.
