Altom Transport is an elite commercial trucking carrier specializing in hauling a wide range of commodities, from hazardous materials to general lubricants and oils. We are looking for a dynamic Claims & Risk Specialist to join our growing team. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with multiple facets of the company, contributing to a culture of safety, efficiency, and exceptional service. As the Claims & Risk Specialist, you will play a critical role in managing risk and insurance claims while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth operations. You will report directly to the Director of Claims and Risk Management and will have opportunities to travel occasionally (less than 10%).

This position operates out of our Chicago terminal.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage Commercial General Liability, Workers' Compensation, 1st Party Claims, 3rd Party Claims, Litigation, Cargo, and Pollution claims
• Support Risk Management initiatives to minimize company liability
• Assist Owner-Operators with insurance coverages
• Collaborate with teams to participate in Root Cause Analysis and recommend actionable improvements
• Attend and contribute to quarterly safety meetings on-site
• Generate and analyze monthly reports related to claims and risks
• Interpret and understand complex insurance policies and agreements
• Maintain meticulous documentation and ensure compliance with all claims processes
• Learn and utilize a variety of company-specific programs and tools
• Proactively manage time and tasks to meet deadlines effectively

• Familiarity with claims management processes and risk mitigation strategies
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
• Effective time management and ability to prioritize tasks
• Ability to thrive both independently and as part of a team-focused environment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Flexibility to travel on short notice when needed
