Job summary

Markel Corporation in Summit, NJ, seeks a construction claims adjuster to resolve moderate complexity claims across jurisdictions. You will analyze coverage, investigate loss facts, and draft coverage position letters, with authority to set reserves within limits.

You will handle property damage and bodily injury claims up to $250k in various jurisdictions, participate in mediations, and deliver professional customer service while maintaining production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• Must have or be eligible to receive claims adjuster license.
• Minimum of 2-3 years experience in commercial construction.
• Knowledge of insurance industry or claims handling preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes coverage and communicates coverage positions.
• Conducts, coordinates, and directs investigation into loss facts and extent of damages.
• Confirms coverage of claims by reviewing policies and documents submitted in support of claims.
• Drafts coverage position letters.
• Evaluates information on coverage, liability, and damages to determine insured's exposure.
• Handles claims in all jurisdictions with appropriate authority.
• Represents Markel in mediations, as required.
• Provides excellent and professional customer service to insureds while maintaining production.
