RLI Corp is seeking an experienced General Liability Claims professional in Chicago to proactively handle claims for property damage and bodily injury, assess coverage issues, and manage timely investigations and reserves. The role emphasizes case law awareness, proactive risk transfer, and strong written and verbal communication with insureds, claimants, and underwriters.

For decades, our financial track record has been stellar — a testament to our culture and validation of our reputation as an excellent underwriting company.Principal Duties & Responsibilities-Proactively handle general liability claims (property damage and bodily injury) to achieve optimum payout results by resolving claims fairly, expeditiously, and economically.-Assess and analyze coverage issues on claims, and issue appropriate coverage letters and documentation.-Complete timely investigation of claims and post appropriate reserves.-Pursue risk transfer opportunities, including dealing with contractual indemnity and additional insured issues.-Handle claims in accordance with RLI's Best Practices.-Resolve claims in timely manner to an effective outcome.Education & ExperienceTypically requires a bachelor’s degree in business administration, insurance, or a related field and 4+ years of relevant legal or insurance related experience. A law degree is a plus.Knowledge, Skills, & Competencies-Meaningful experience handling general liability claims involving bodily injury and property damage.-Ideal candidate will have superior working knowledge of case law, statutes, and procedures impacting the handling and value of claims.-Proactive investigation, risk transfer, claim handling, attorney management, and claims resolution are essential.-Superior writing and communication skills to work effectively with insureds, claimants, underwriters, other team members, and upper management.Compensation OverviewThe base salary range for the position is listed below.
