The Civilian Cadet supports the daily operations of the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office. This role requires completion of a medical exam, drug screening, and a thorough background investigation; candidates must understand and apply agency rules, policies, and security procedures, and maintain the highest level of confidentiality.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel, and strong computer literacy are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old by the start date.
• High school diploma, GED, or current enrollment with plans to graduate.
• Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Valid Michigan Driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assist Evidence Sergeant with daily evidence room tasks.
• Assist the Quartermaster Sergeant with issuing uniforms and gear.
• Participate in annual and semi-annual evidence room inventories.
• Retrieve and transport evidence between the Sheriff's Office and the Crime Lab.
• Answer incoming calls, provide information, or direct callers to appropriate personnel.
• Maintain and update various records and information systems.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Successful candidates must be able to understand, retain, and apply agency rules, regulations, policies, and security procedures. They must also be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel, possess strong computer literacy, and maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
