Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Engineering Intern in Atlanta, GA to support design and project tasks under the guidance of lead engineers. The role emphasizes standard engineering techniques, data analysis, and collaboration across market groups.

The intern will assist with filing, data entry, and presentations while building fundamentals in Civil/Structural engineering and MS Office. A 3.0+ GPA and active campus involvement are preferred for consideration.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited program.
• ABET accreditation strongly preferred.
• Prior internship and related consulting experience preferred.
• Active campus or community involvement.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and motivation to learn.
• Basic familiarity with MS Office programs.

Responsibilities

• Assist with filing, scanning, data entry, documentation and Power Point presentations.
• Assist with responses to general questions.
• Participate in continuous improvement by collecting and analyzing data.
• Present solutions to project concerns.
• Research solutions to project concerns; analyze and recommend.
• Support lead engineers on various duties.

Transmission & Distribution

The Transmission & Distribution group is responsible for the planning and design of electrical transmission projects in power delivery, including overhead transmission, underground transmission, distribution systems, substation design, telecommunication & network engineering, pipelines, renewable power integration, security, grid modernization and more.

• Assist with tasks that may include filing, scanning, data entry, documentation and Power Point presentation.
• Assist with responses to general questions.
• Participate in continuous improvement efforts by collecting and analyzing data.
• Present solutions to concerns.
• Research solutions to project concerns; analyze and recommend solutions to problems.
• Assist with ad hoc projects as assigned by managers.
• Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
• Involvement on campus or in the community preferred.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship) in the country where this position is located.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Complies with all policies and standards.

• ABET accreditation strongly preferred.
• Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
• Actively involved in campus, community or other volunteer activities or organizations.

• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.
