Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Civil/Structural Engineer to design equipment components and systems, develop calculations, and review vendor drawings for complex projects in the oil, gas, or petrochemical sector.

You will lead specifications, coordinate with clients and vendors, and ensure project delivery on time and within budget while applying safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

10+ years of progressive Civil/Structural Engineering experience, preferably in oil, gas, or petrochemical projects.
Professional Engineering license valid in the resident state.
Strong ability to read, write, and comprehend technical instructions in English.
Proven capability to present information clearly to clients and team members.

Responsibilities

Job description

Perform civil/structural engineering assignments associated with designing equipment components, structures, or systems.
Independently prepare intermediate to advanced level specifications for project assignments detailing client performance requirements, specific component needs, design requirements, applicable design codes, and vendor drawing requirements.
Prepare engineering sketches, perform engineering calculations, and develop analysis models for complex project assignments.
Prepare, review and/or approve vendor drawings for compliance with project specifications.
Interact and communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and other consultants.
Set realistic expectations and ensure assigned projects are completed according to schedule and within budget.
Actively participate in company and client hazard identification and observation programs, and immediately report any unsafe acts, conditions, or incidents to your supervisor.
Visit jobsites to evaluate site, project requirements, and conditions.
Prepare inquiry and purchase requisitions as well as bid tabulations associated with equipment purchases.
Perform checking of engineering drawings and mathematical calculations incorporating multi-office/global delivery elements.

Requirements

10+ years of progressive experience in the field of Civil/Structural Engineering, preferably in the oil, gas, or petrochemical industry.
Professional Engineering license in resident state.
Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos, all in English.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Must possess basic computer skills and knowledge of MS Word and Excel software.
Ability to use basic engineering software programs, such as STAAD or RISA, is required.
Familiarity with AutoCAD is a plus, but not mandatory.
Must possess problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve issues involving multiple variables.
