Job summary

Jobtailor in Baton Rouge, LA seeks a Lead Civil/Structural Engineer to oversee singular petrochemical projects. You will apply engineering principles, prepare specs, sketches, and material take-offs, and coordinate with vendors and clients on design and safety.

Candidates must have 5–7 years of progressive Civil/Structural experience, a BS in civil/structural engineering (ABET), and PE certification or plans to sit for the exam.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of progressive Civil/Structural engineering experience, preferably in the petrochemical industry.
• PE certification or plans to sit for the PE examination.
• BS in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.

Responsibilities

• Lead Engineer on singular Civil/Structural projects, applying engineering principles with minimal direction.
• Prepare material specifications, advanced sketches, and calculations for project segments.
• Evaluate vendor bids/drawings for specification compliance and review shop drawings.
• Visit vendor facilities to inspect structures/equipment and assess site conditions.
• Interface with other disciplines and clients; develop cost-effective and safe designs.

Responsibilities

• Ability to be a Lead Engineer on singular Civil/Structural projects.
• Applies engineering principles in discipline of competency, as assigned by supervisor with minimal direction.
• Prepare material specifications for specific components.
• Prepares advanced sketches and calculations for a specific segment of a project.
• Assists in the development of technical specifications.
• Evaluates vendor bids and drawings to assure compliance with specifications.
• Visits vendor facilities to inspect structures and relevant equipment for compliance with requirements and existing drawings, and to evaluate the site, project requirements, and conditions.
• Interfaces with other disciplines and clients.
• Prepare Material Take-offs on civil/structural items.
• Review vendor drawings and steel fabrication drawings.
• Develop a focus on least cost and safe design for civil/structural systems.
• Maintains continued awareness of project schedule and budget.

Requirements

• Engineer must have 5-7 years of progressive experience in the field of Civil/Structural Engineering, preferably in the petrochemical industry.
• Engineer must already have attained PE certification or must be making plans to sit for the PE examination.
• Must possess the minimum of a BS in civil or structural engineering from an ABET accredited university.
