Job summary

T&M Associates in New Jersey seeks a Staff Designer 1 to join our Community Development group. This early-career role emphasizes field-based work, heavy inspections, and site exposure while providing opportunities to assist senior engineers with planning, zoning reviews, and contract documents.

The ideal candidate has a Civil Engineering degree, 1–2 years of related experience, and proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroStation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• 1–2 years of related experience preferred; internships acceptable.
• Engineer in Training certification preferred with goal to obtain a PE license.
• Fluency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation and related design software is essential.
• Detail oriented with strong design principles and accurate calculations.
• Able to collaborate with clients and staff and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Civil design activities, field inspection, and report writing for capital and private property development projects.
• Assist senior engineers with planning and zoning board reviews, municipal design projects, contract documents, estimates, and specifications.

T&M Associates is seeking a multi-talented Staff Designer 1 to join our Community Development group in New Jersey. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer to learn and grow within the framework of an engineering consulting firm. This position will begin with a strong emphasis on field-based work, including heavy field inspections and site exposure.

Responsibilities will include civil design activities, field inspection, and report writing for capital and private property development projects. This position will also provide opportunities to assist senior-level engineers with planning and zoning board reviews, municipal design projects, contract documents, estimates, and specifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in either Civil Engineering is required.
• 1-2 years of related experience is preferred. Relevant internship experience can be substituted for experience.
• Engineer in Training certification is preferred with the goal to obtain a Professional Engineer’s License.
• Exhibits fluency with computer software/ technology such as AutoCad, Civil 3D, MicroStation, etc. essential.
• Detail oriented with a strong command of design principles and the ability to develop neat and accurate design calculations.
• Candidates must be adept at working collaboratively while building strong working relationships with our clients and staff members.
• Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.

T&M Associates is committed to pay transparency and equitable compensation practices in compliance with applicable laws, including the New Jersey Equal Pay Act. T&M estimates that the salary range for this position will fall between $74,000 - $80,000. The actual salary offered may vary within this range, depending on a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, educational qualifications, specific skills and knowledge, as well as internal pay equity and geographic location.
