Job summary

McLain Site Solutions is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator for Civil Site Work in Jacksonville, FL. This full-time role requires operating excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, and more to perform site development, earthwork, and utility installation with emphasis on safety.

Ideal candidates read grade stakes/blueprints, work with survey crews, and maintain equipment. CDL, OSHA certifications, and strong teamwork are preferred. Competitive pay and benefits offered.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of heavy equipment operating in heavy civil construction.
• Experience with excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, skid steers, rollers, and ADTs.
• Ability to read grade stakes, blueprints, and construction plans.
• Strong safety awareness around underground utilities.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate heavy equipment including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, graders, skid steers and roll/compactors.
• Perform excavation, earthmoving, grading, site prep and backfilling.
• Excavate for underground utilities and haul materials safely.
• Read site plans and grade stakes; coordinate with survey crews.
• Inspect equipment daily and report maintenance needs.
• Maintain a clean, safe operating work site and comply with OSHA policies.
