Job summary

Weston & Sampson is seeking a Civil/Environmental Engineer for our Suffern, NY office. You will contribute to land development, water resources, and municipal projects, performing site design, drainage analysis, and design reporting. The role involves hydrologic modeling, plan reviews, and periodic field inspections.

The position is PE-track with emphasis on strong writing and communication, a valid driver's license, and collaboration with a team across Weston & Sampson offices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS.
• PE track; PE or EIT preferred.
• Strong writing and verbal communications skills.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Work on land development, water resources, and municipal projects.
• Design site plans including layout, grading, erosion control, drainage, and utilities; prepare design reports for drainage, water supply and sanitary sewer.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for watercourses, lakes/ponds, and dams.

Job description

What you will do:

• Work on a combination of land development, water resources, and municipal projects.
• Land development project responsibilities will include design of site plans including layout, grading, erosion control, drainage and utilities. Will prepare design reports for drainage, water supply and sanitary sewer. Will comply with local municipal codes. Will make submissions to municipalities and respond to review comments.
• Water resources projects will include stormwater management designs to support land development projects. Projects will also include flood mitigation plans. Work involves hydrologic and hydraulic modeling of watercourses, lakes/ponds, and dams.
• Municipal engineering work will include review of plans for proposed private projects, and design and inspections for ongoing municipal projects.
• Will be working in an engaging and supportive work environment.
• Will be working on multiple projects managing technical, budgetary and communication responsibilities.
• Will work well with multiple staff members in Suffern office as well as staff at other Weston & Sampson offices.
• Perform field and inspection work periodically.

What you will bring:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering
• Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS.
• Experience or interest in HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, and HydroCAD.
• This is a PE track position. PE or EIT is preferred.
• Strong writing and verbal communications skills
• Strong work ethic
• Valid driver's license
