Colliers Engineering & Design in Charlotte, NC is seeking an Engineering Designer III/Project Engineer to contribute to grading and drainage designs for development projects, working in AutoCAD alongside staff engineers to meet budgets, deadlines and agency regulations.

The role involves site exploration and due diligence, stormwater system design, utility coordination, and preparation of construction cost estimates, with the opportunity to lead other engineers and grow within a collaborative

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
• 4-7+ years of residential and/or commercial civil land development work experience
• Engineer in Training (EIT) or PE preferred
• Knowledge of local land use, planning and zoning processes
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in stormwater management, hydraulics, hydrological analysis and site development design
• Civil 3D skills with ability to design site layouts from concept to completion

Responsibilities

• Review zoning and land development ordinances to determine development limits.
• Conduct site investigations and due diligence including utility research and regulations.
• Prepare concept drawings and coordinate with AutoCAD draftsmen.
• Lead design of stormwater management and conveyance systems using Civil 3D.
• Perform pipe sizing calculations and develop drainage area maps.
• Evaluate surface runoff, invert, slope and hydraulic grade line using Rational Method and Manning's equation.
• Address vertical and horizontal utility conflicts and design utility systems.
• Prepare construction cost estimates for bonding and client purposes.
• Work independently and lead other engineers.
