Job summary

Urban Ltd. in the Washington, D.C. metro area is seeking undergraduate students for a summer internship in Civil Engineering or Landscape Architecture.

Based in our Annandale or Chantilly office, the program is in-office, five days a week, and focuses on building strong technical skills through CAD drawings, site and subdivision design, and coordination with engineers.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an accredited university (Civil Engineering majors are preferred).
• Interest in designing, preparing and processing land development applications.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office is preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must.

Responsibilities

• Creation of CAD drawings and details for site and subdivision plans.
• Site Layout and utility design.
• Horizontal and vertical design of roadways.
• Preparation of erosion and sediment control plans.
• Generating hydrologic computations for SWM facilities.
• Performing pavement design computations.
• Performing site distance analysis.
• Preparing site work quantity take-offs.
• Coordination with internal and external engineers, architects, etc.

Urban is currently seeking undergraduate-level students interested in pursuing careers in Civil Engineering or Landscape Architecture. Successful candidates would be based in our Annandale or Chantilly office.

Our immersive summer internship program is designed to be fully in-office, five days a week. This structure ensures that interns gain a wide range of professional development experiences while building strong technical skills.

Urban Ltd. provides full-service civil engineering, transportation engineering, land planning, landscape architecture and surveying services to private and public sector clients throughout the Washington D.C. metropolitan area.

Candidates

• Must be enrolled in an accredited university (Civil Engineering majors are preferred)
• Interest in designing, preparing and processing land development applications
• Candidates local to the Mid-Atlantic Region are preferred
• Candidates must have the ability to make well-informed design decisions based on their knowledge of civil engineering concepts and locality requirements
• Contributes to the preparation of full sets of construction plans
• Ensure the quality of all work completed
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office is preferred
• Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must
