Job description

Design the ground we build on.

You're the kind of civil engineer who sees an empty parcel and immediately starts visualizing grades, utilities, and stormwater paths. Here, you'll turn that vision into fully engineered sites for high-impact private development.

You'll drive site and paving plans, grading, utilities, and stormwater systems for retail, commercial, industrial, multifamily, hospitality, and mixed-use projects from concept through construction.

Your work will show up in real places people live, work, and visit every day.

If you've been cutting your teeth on site design and are ready for more ownership and variety, we want to talk to you.

What You'll Work On

You'll be hands-on with site civil design for private development projects, including:

  • Pre-development due diligence and feasibility exhibits
  • Site and paving plans for commercial and mixed-use projects
  • Site grading plans and earthwork-driven layouts
  • Erosion control plans and sediment management approaches
  • Utility plans, including water distribution and sewer collection systems
  • Hydrologic and hydraulic calculations
  • Stormwater management plans and technical reports
  • Regulatory research and permitting support

You'll be working with tools like AutoCAD Civil 3D, hydrology and hydraulics software, and Microsoft Office to bring sites from first sketch to permit-ready design.

It all comes down to this: make complex sites work beautifully on the ground and on paper.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Prepare clear, accurate exhibits to support planning and approvals
  • Develop site and paving plans for private development projects
  • Create detailed grading plans aligned with drainage and constructability needs
  • Design erosion control plans that meet regulatory standards
  • Lay out and detail water distribution and sewer collection systems
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic calculations for site drainage
  • Prepare stormwater management plans and supporting reports
  • Research applicable regulations and permitting requirements
  • Assist with completing permit applications and responses to agency comments
  • Collaborate with project managers and other engineers as a team player
  • Take on additional site-civil tasks and responsibilities as assigned
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from a U.S.-accredited college or university
  • Applicable U.S.-based work experience in site civil engineering
  • Approximately 2-5 years of experience designing site-related elements for retail, commercial, industrial, multifamily residential, hospitality, or mixed-use projects
  • Experience with water distribution and sewer collection systems design
  • Experience with parking lots, roads, erosion, and sediment control from planning through construction
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Proficiency with hydrology and hydraulics software
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Strong problem-solving and decision‑making skills
  • Excellent communication, detail orientation, interpersonal skills, and a collaborative mindset
  • EIT certification or Professional Engineering licensure highly preferred
The Experience That Will Really Get Our Attention

You're the go-to site designer in your group for private development work, comfortable juggling grading, utilities, and stormwater while keeping an eye on constructability and schedule. You've sat through enough review cycles to anticipate what regulators will ask, and you can translate engineering requirements into plans that contractors actually like to build from.

If you can take a commercial or mixed‑use site from due diligence through stormwater report with minimal hand‑holding — and you enjoy the technical side of hydrology/hydraulics as much as the layout work — you'll stand out here.

Why This Opportunity?

You won't be a tiny cog here. You'll see the full lifecycle of site projects and grow your design and technical depth across a broad mix of development types.

Our client backs that growth with a people‑oriented culture, strong work‑life balance, and highly competitive compensation and benefits, plus robust professional development, mentoring, and training opportunities.

Enjoy a hybrid home/office environment with flexible schedules, generous paid time off and holidays, comprehensive health coverage options, 401K with company match, tuition and licensure reimbursement, and support for professional memberships, seminars, and conferences.

You'll do impactful work, build your career, and still have a life outside the office.

Hybrid home/office‑based role with flexible work schedules.

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from a U.S.-accredited institution required.
