Job summary

GPD Group in Virginia Beach, VA seeks an experienced Civil Project Manager to lead site development designs for Federal, Retail/Commercial, Educational, and Healthcare clients. You will mentor team members while coordinating multi-discipline projects and client engagements.

The successful candidate has 8+ years of design experience, a PE license, and strong proficiency in Civil 3D/AutoCAD, with stormwater expertise and excellent communication skills. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of design experience in the Federal, Retail/Commercial, Educational (PK-12 and Higher Ed.), and Healthcare spaces.
• PE License required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Proficient with Civil 3D and AutoCAD; stormwater modeling.
• Strong communication and project-management skills.

GPD is looking to continue to grow, and we are excited to hire a Civil Project Manager that embodies the entrepreneurial spirit GPD is founded on in our Virginia Beach, VA office. This person will share a passion for mentoring and team developing while leading project designs with our clients in the Federal marketas well as other clients in our Retail/Commercial, Educational and Healthcare sectors.

Role Requirements

• Civil Project Manager with 8+ years of industry design experience in theFederal, Retail/Commercial, Educational (PK-12 and Higher Ed.), and Healthcare spaces.
• PE License required.
• Experienced in Site Development design.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Experience as a market leader for their team, working with clients and managing projects at both a design and coordination level.
• Read and understand project requirements for project execution, including Contract documents, project scope book, technical plans, and specifications.
• Proficiency in design software to develop the design deliverables. Must be knowledgeable with Civil 3-D and/or AutoCAD.
• Proficient with stormwater modeling and management.
• Technical understanding of design standards.
• Thrives in a work environment where one collaborates with other team members (Project Managers, Engineers, and Designers) in a multi-discipline project team environment to resolve appropriate design or drawing issues and accomplish objectives.
• Must possess excellent communication skills, professional writing skills and the ability to multi-task between several projects and priorities at one time.
• Candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Some travel may be required for construction administration.
• Valid Driver’s License is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Multidisciplinary collaboration in our Site Development group provides the opportunity to interact with multiple stakeholders and in a wide variety of services that encompass our discipline in the development of site infrastructure projects: this includes complete A & E design, field services like environmental, geotechnical and survey.
• Strategic Planning includes working with the team to develop and execute strategic actions aligned with both the Site Development team and GPD Group goals: GPD is looking for a go-getter that is fearless in driving growth and opportunity for the company.
• Client Engagement and Management offers a chance for the Project Manager to develop and build programs and client relationships to grow this team: this includes understanding clients’ needs and how they translate into specific scope and reporting systems. This person will not only meet revenue goals but actively seek out opportunities to exceed expectations.
• Technical oversight: overseeing the design process for civil site development and stormwater management, coordinating the permitting and jurisdiction applications/submittals, and ensuring the newer engineers’ work meets quality standards at GPD.
• Mentoring and developing the Site Development team to further our success in the industry: this includes not only civil engineering and technical training but empowering those teammates to find their passion and skills in our industry and translating that to continued career success.
• Administrative oversight: using Key Performance indicators, this includes developing, communicating, and tracking workflow tasks, scheduling, championing GPD’s quality assurance and client standards, and ensuring that project documents are consistent with project plans and within scope and budget.
