Job summary

Branch Builds, Inc. seeks a Project Engineer to oversee all engineering and technical aspects of projects, reporting to the Project Manager.

You’ll support safety, documentation, plans and specifications, and construction means and methods, while aiding scheduling, budgeting, projections and project closeout. Responsibilities include reviewing documents, managing logs, preparing budget adjustments, obtaining permits, and ensuring material quality and compliance across site work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field.
• Master’s Degree in engineering/Construction and two years of experience in heavy civil NCDOT/large site construction.

Responsibilities

• Measure, report and forecast accurate cost and revenue dollars and quantities.
• Review contract documents, drawings and specifications.
• Assist in defining project budget and cost codes.
• Prepare initial budget adjustments for PM review.
• Ensure acquisition of permits where required.
• Maintain and update RFI, Change Order, and Submittal logs.
• Support quality control and ensure approved materials are used.
• Draft and submit Change Orders and RFIs per PM approval.
• Approve subcontractor invoices at PM final approval.
• Review and submit end-of-month billings.
• Develop and communicate an effective plan with the superintendent.
• Monitor work to ensure means and methods are followed.
• Maintain and update project schedule for PM review.
• Promote Branch Safety Culture.
• Conduct pre-punch list walk-throughs with PM and Superintendent.
• Enforce contract close-out timeline and reconcile with subcontractors.
• Review cost data for accuracy and assist PM with projection updates.
