Position Overview

As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the administrative and technical aspects of constructing a project, managing a team of field and cost engineers. You will serve as the main conduit of information between the Project or Construction Manager and the team, focusing on cost, revenue, and cash flow information. This role requires strong interpersonal and time management skills. Project Engineers may also act as the Project Manager on smaller projects and are expected to develop their team.

District Overview

Kiewit's South Central District has contributed significantly to infrastructure projects across the United States. We specialize in highway and heavy civil construction, including grading, excavating, trenching, bridge construction, concrete, asphalt paving, and more. Our experience and commitment to safety, quality, and the environment position us as industry leaders in highway and civil construction.

Location

All roles are project-based within the South-Central District, requiring mobility across Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas.

Responsibilities

  1. Perform scheduling of the project
  2. Manage revenue, costs, and cash flow
  3. Coordinate temporary engineering
  4. Oversee permanent design management and quality control
  5. Handle project closeout
  6. Maintain client relations
  7. Assist in operations planning
  8. Administer contracts and subcontracts

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in construction management, construction engineering, or related engineering disciplines.
  • 5+ years of work experience in construction or engineering
  • At least 3 years managing engineers with exposure to cost control and scheduling management
  • Ability to read, analyze, and identify discrepancies in engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents
  • Highly motivated with a passion for excellence and initiative
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to doing the job right the first time
  • Demonstrated integrity and ethics
  • Passion for safety and ensuring a safe work environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines and goals
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail
