Company Description

Timmons Group is seeking a Civil Project Engineer II/III - Traffic Analysis and Planning candidate to join our Traffic Analysis and Planning Group located in our Richmond, VA office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Complete operational analysis, corridor studies, traffic studies, innovative intersection implementation, traffic calming, and safety analysis;
  • Bicycle/pedestrian/multi-modal feasibility, analysis, design, and implementation;
  • Perform calculations using engineering formulas and skills, utilizing computers to solve problems;
  • Conduct research and write objective summary reports for project completion;
  • Assist in preparing engineering planning schedules and cost estimates;
  • Perform field observation, inspection, and data collection;
  • Communicate with client staff and internal design team;
  • Present results and recommendations to the public.

Skills/Requirements include but are not limited to:

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field;
  • 2-6 years of experience in Transportation / Traffic Engineering and Planning (new graduates considered);
  • Proficiency in Synchro/SIDRA/HCS;
  • Knowledge of Traffic Analyses, Planning Studies, Traffic Safety, Traffic Forecasting, Traffic Signal Design, ITS Design, and Traffic Signal Timing (preferred);
  • Experience with bicycle/pedestrian/multi-modal projects (preferred);
  • Basic knowledge of CAD and/or GIS (preferred);
  • Experience working with DOT and/or local agencies;
  • PE/EIT certification (preferred).
