Job description

Timmons Group is seeking a Civil Project Engineer II/III - Traffic Analysis and Planning candidate to join our Traffic Analysis and Planning Group located in our Richmond, VA office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Complete operational analysis, corridor studies, traffic studies, innovative intersection implementation, traffic calming, and safety analysis;
  2. Bicycle/pedestrian/multi-modal feasibility, analysis, design, and implementation;
  3. Complete calculations using engineering formulas and skills and/or utilize computers to solve problems;
  4. Perform research and write objective summary reports for project work;
  5. Assist in preparing engineering planning schedules and cost estimates;
  6. Conduct field observation, inspection, and data collection duties;
  7. Communicate with client staff and internal design team;
  8. Present results and recommendations to the public.
Skills and Requirements
  1. Bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field;
  2. 2-6 years of experience in Transportation / Traffic Engineering and Planning preferred, but new graduates are considered;
  3. Proficiency in Synchro/SIDRA/HCS;
  4. Knowledge of Traffic Analysis, Planning Studies, Traffic Safety, Traffic Forecasting, Traffic Signal Design, ITS Design, and Traffic Signal Timing;
  5. Experience with bicycle/pedestrian/multi-modal projects;
  6. Basic knowledge of CAD and/or GIS;
  7. Experience working with DOT and/or local agencies;
  8. PE or EIT certification preferred.
