Job description

Timmons Group is seeking a Civil Project Engineer II/III - Traffic Analysis and Planning candidate to join our Traffic Analysis and Planning Group located in our Raleigh, NC office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Complete operational analysis, corridor studies, traffic studies, innovative intersection implementation, traffic calming, and safety analysis;
  2. Bicycle/pedestrian/multi-modal feasibility, analysis, design, and implementation;
  3. Perform calculations using engineering formulas and skills and/or utilize computers to solve problems;
  4. Research and write objective summary reports used in project completion;
  5. Assist in the preparation of engineering planning schedules and cost estimates;
  6. Conduct field observations, inspections, and data collection;
  7. Communicate with client staff and internal design team; and
  8. Present results and recommendations to the public.
Skills/Requirements
  1. Bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field;
  2. 2 to 6 years of experience in Transportation / Traffic Engineering and Planning preferred;
  3. Proficiency in Synchro/SIDRA/HCS is essential;
  4. Knowledge of Traffic Analyses, Planning Studies, Traffic Safety, Traffic Forecasting, Traffic Signal Design, ITS Design, and/or Traffic Signal Timing;
  5. Experience with bicycle/pedestrian/multi-modal projects;
  6. Basic knowledge of CAD and/or GIS;
  7. Experience working with DOT and/or local agencies; and
  8. PE or EIT certification preferred.
