Company Description

Timmons Group is seeking a Civil Project Engineer II/III - Traffic Analysis and Planning candidate to join our Traffic Analysis and Planning Group located in our Charlottesville, VA office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Complete operational analysis, corridor studies, traffic studies, innovative intersection implementation, traffic calming, and safety analysis;
  • Bicycle/pedestrian/multi-modal feasibility, analysis, design, and implementation;
  • Perform calculations using engineering formulas and skills, and utilize computers to solve problems;
  • Research and write objective summary reports for project work;
  • Assist in preparing engineering planning schedules and cost estimates;
  • Conduct field observation, inspection, and data collection;
  • Communicate with client staff and internal design team;
  • Present results and recommendations to the public.
Skills/Requirements
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field;
  • 2-6 years of experience in Transportation / Traffic Engineering and Planning preferred;
  • Proficiency in Synchro/SIDRA/HCS is essential;
  • Knowledge of Traffic Analyses, Planning Studies, Traffic Safety, Traffic Forecasting, Traffic Signal Design, ITS Design, and Signal Timing preferred;
  • Experience with bicycle/pedestrian/multi-modal projects is a plus;
  • Basic knowledge of CAD and GIS preferred;
  • Experience working with DOT and local agencies;
  • PE/EIT certification is a plus.
