Qualifications

  • 1-8 years of experience in Transportation/Traffic Engineering preferred.

Job Description

Timmons Group is seeking a Civil Project Engineer II/III - Traffic Analysis and Planning candidate to join our Traffic Group located in our Columbia, SC office location.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

  1. Design portions of a project using relevant office software, modeling and CAD technology
  2. Complete calculations using engineering formulas and skills and/or utilizes computers in order to solve problems
  3. Work to complete design details and plan sets
  4. Perform research and write objective summary reports which are used in the completion of the project work
  5. Assist in the preparation of engineering and construction cost estimates
  6. Complete field observation, inspection and data collection duties as directed by senior engineering staff
  7. Communicate with client staff and internal design team as directed by senior engineering staff

Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

  1. A bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field
  2. Ideal candidates would have between one and eight years of experience in Transportation / Traffic Engineering and site plan production
  3. MicroStation proficiency is essential
  4. Knowledge of Traffic Analyses, Traffic Safety, Traffic Forecasting, Traffic Signal Design, ITS Design, Signing Design, Traffic Management Plan Design, and/or Traffic Signal Timing is preferred
  5. DOT experience preferred
  6. EIT preferred
