Job description

Company Description

Timmons Group is seeking a Civil Project Engineer II/III Roadway Design - Transportation candidate to join our Transportation Design Group located in our Washington, DC office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

  1. Design portions of a project using relevant office software, modeling, and AutoDesk Civil 3D technology.
  2. Complete calculations using engineering formulas and skills, utilizing computers to solve problems.
  3. Prepare specifications and materials through research and manufacturing catalogs to specify materials, installation, inspection, and payment items specific to a project.
  4. Work to complete design details and plan sets.
  5. Perform research and write objective summary reports used in project work or inspection.
  6. Assist in the preparation of engineering and construction cost estimates.
  7. Complete field observation, inspection, and data collection duties as directed by senior engineering staff.
  8. Communicate with client staff and internal design team as directed by senior engineering staff.

Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering or a closely related field.
  • At least two years of experience in transportation civil engineering related to roadway design is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Bentley OpenRoads Designer is essential.
  • Proficiency in AutoDesk Civil 3D is a plus.
  • VDOT experience is preferred.
  • EIT certification is preferred.
