GAI Consultants - Project Civil Engineer 3
GAI Consultants offers a career-building opportunity for a Project Civil Engineer 3 within our Power Business Unit's Civil and Environmental Engineering sector. GAI is an established, growing multi-discipline engineering firm with significant growth prospects in the Mid-Atlantic region. This position is eligible for GAI's flexible Hybrid or Remote workplace policy and will be based out of our Pittsburgh, PA offices. Our Power Business Unit focuses on Energy, Institutional, Industrial, and Manufacturing clients.
Job Duties:
- Plan, design, and facilitate civil engineering projects including site grading, drainage, access roads, erosion and sediment control, stormwater management, report preparation, and permitting.
- Conduct technical and feasibility studies.
- Collaborate with professionals and discuss project requirements with team members.
- Utilize computer programs to develop detailed designs.
- Ensure work products meet client, environmental, and safety standards.
- Perform tasks with minimal guidance, handling complex issues and escalating only the most challenging ones.
- Apply strong civil engineering design knowledge and maintain a positive attitude.
- Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and analysis modules.
- Manage moderate to complex civil design tasks, delegating routine tasks appropriately.
- Mentor, guide, and review work of less experienced staff.
- Demonstrate teamwork, effective communication, design expertise, and problem-solving skills.
- Adhere to safety and quality procedures of GAI and clients.
Travel Requirements:
- Approximately 10% travel to client sites, field visits, and GAI offices.

- Apply current engineering principles and practices relevant to their organization.
- Develop expertise to resolve crucial or unique issues.
- Stay informed of new methods and recommend improvements.
- Lead projects of moderate complexity or major projects.
- Analyze complex problems across engineering specialties.

Minimum Experience:
- 14+ years of related experience.
Education:
- B.S. or M.S. in Engineering.
Licenses & Certifications:
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license, reciprocity in multiple states.
- Driver's License.
Technical Responsibilities:
- Serve as a technical advisor in advanced concepts and methods.
- Stay informed of new developments and recommend project or application changes.
- Develop new techniques and improve processes, materials, or products.
Project and Task Management:
- Oversee project teams of engineers and technicians.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate documentation and activities for multiple projects.
- Analyze project management plans and address delivery uncertainties using risk management principles.
- Review operational procedures for compliance.
Management Responsibilities:
- Work under broad supervision with general objectives.
- Mentor senior staff.
- Foster professional attitudes and creativity within the team.
Communication Skills:
- Apply strategic and persuasive communication principles.
- Represent their specialty area and liaise with related individuals and organizations.
- Interact routinely with organizational leaders, clients, officials, and contractors.
- Promote effective teamwork and leadership.
