IMEG is growing, and we’d love to have you join our team! We are currently seeking a Civil Project Engineer in our St. Louis, MO office. The Civil Project Engineer will lead design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for low to moderate complexity projects and collaborate with senior staff for the delivery of larger and high complexity projects. They will be responsible for working closely with a team of engineers and consultants to provide engineering solutions and advice to clients to ensure positive outcomes. Primary responsibilities will include engineering analysis, design and implementation oversight of Civil Engineering projects. This position will be expected to work within the project’s monetary budget, train, mentor, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.
Principal Responsibilities
Perform more complex calculations based on assignment i.e. hydraulic calculations, traffic projections, piling or rebar calculations, or calculations to balance site earthwork
Oversee and assist with water and sewer system designs for smaller private and larger municipal systems
Prepare grading and stormwater designs for commercial, industrial, and residential site plans
Coordinate and oversee the efforts for permit applications for a variety of municipalities
Lead design efforts for the analysis of Civil Engineering projects; Utilize engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards
Interact with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively; Build and maintain client relationships through professional communication
Work as part of a project team to support the execution of consulting projects. Lead efforts in project planning, budgeting, and scheduling tasks to meet project deadlines and objectives; Document design decisions and instructions from clients while monitoring project design progress as related to percent complete and fee expended
Analyze engineering problems and propose innovative solutions; Collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical and efficient solutions
Provide in-process design reviews of Civil Engineering design, calculations, and specifications; Implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure that engineering designs and solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards and client requirements
Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in Civil Engineering; Contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG
Prioritize safety and regulatory compliance in all aspects of engineering work; Interpret state and local design criteria and apply it to the specific project needs; Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals
Identify potential project problems and seek advice from the Project Manager
Required Skills/Abilities
Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
Strong training and mentoring skills
Proficiency of industry standard engineering software and tools
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
Ability to travel up to 15% with occasional overnight stays
Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent, required
Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred
Minimum of 5 years of experience required, up to 10 years preferred, in the Civil Engineering and Construction industry required.
