Job summary

Mattern & Craig, an employee-owned Engineering and Survey Firm, seeks a Civil Engineer in Charleston, SC for full-time technical design and potential project management responsibilities.

You will work on water/wastewater, land development, stormwater, and erosion control projects, with opportunities to coordinate with clients and reviewing agencies while pursuing PE licensure.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• EIT certification and ability to obtain PE within 1–3 years.
• Knowledge of civil engineering principles, design, permitting, and project work.
• Excellent design, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with Civil 3D, GIS, MicroStation, and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Design water and wastewater infrastructure and support preliminary studies.
• Develop land development plans and erosion/sediment control measures.
• Prepare cost estimates and technical reports; coordinate with clients and agencies.
• Contribute to plan and specification development for projects.

Job description

Mattern & Craig, an employee-owned Engineering and Survey Firm, is seeking a motivated and responsible individual for a Civil Engineering position in the Charleston, SC office. This is a full-time position with technical design and potential project-management responsibilities.

The successful candidate will be assigned to a variety of projects with responsibilities that include but are not limited to: water/wastewater system infrastructure design, preliminary engineering studies/reports, land development design, stormwater analysis and design, development of erosion and sediment control plans, plan and specification development, preparation of cost estimates, and potential coordination with clients, reviewing agencies, and consultants.

Preferred Qualifications:

• B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program
• EIT certification; ability to obtain PE within 1-3 years
• Knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, processes, design/build, permitting, and project work-related issues
• Excellent engineering design, written, oral, and communication skills
• Knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D, GIS, MicroStation, Microsoft Office software
