Job summary

Responsibilities

• Maintain files of working documents and backup for estimate figures; follow contracts as assigned.

Turner Industries Group, LLC has an opening for a Civil Planner to join our team in the Kingsport, TN area. The Planner position prepares complete estimates for assigned project(s) and determines project plans and specifications. Non-exempt role; Reports to Planning Supervisor or Foreman; Performs a variety of routine duties within established policies.

Essential Qualifications

• High school or equivalent
• Minimum four (4) years to five (5) years of field experience and/or education in construction technology
• Must possess excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills
• Able to plan job tasks and job durations into a work schedule
• May require company qualifications for proprietary software
• Post offer drug / alcohol screen, physical evaluation, and signed acceptance of the company Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy

Functional Requirements

Reviews and incorporates historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and man-hour figures; estimates worker-hours and materials required to complete the job; reviews specifications, drawings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate; prepares estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work; maintains files of working documents and back-up for estimate figures; follows contracts as assigned - may include estimating extra work items, change orders, credits, procuring material, etc.; perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction

Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
