Job summary

McKim & Creed, Inc. seeks a Civil PE Manager to lead land development design projects for residential, commercial, and industrial developments from our Raleigh and Charlotte offices.

The role requires NC PE registration and 7–15+ years of experience, with a focus on coordinating permitting for water, sewer, grading, erosion control, and storm drainage. You will mentor junior engineers, lead project teams, and drive business development through proposals, presentations, and scope development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (required).
• NC Professional Engineer (PE) registration required.
• 7–15+ years of land development design experience for residential, commercial, or industrial projects.
• Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Outlook; familiarity with standard engineering design programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead project management and design of land development, including permitting for water, sewer, grading, erosion control, and storm drainage.
• Conduct negotiations and manage complex technical and personnel assignments with sound judgment.
• Apply standard practices, develop new techniques, and implement improvements.
• Support business development: prepare proposals, lead presentations, develop scope of work, estimate time and manpower.
• Build and maintain client relationships; act as primary contact for major clients.
• Lead and supervise project teams through all phases, track meetings, budget, and A/R.
• Produce evaluations, reports, proposals, design drawings, technical specs, and permit submittals to grow the firm.

Civil PE Manager – Land Development

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Planning, Development and Natural Resources team in the Raleigh & Charlotte, NC offices. This role leads land development design projects for residential, commercial, and industrial developments.

Candidate Location Requirement: Must currently reside in the greater Raleigh or Charlotte NC areas.

What You Need

• BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering with NC PE registration.
• 7–15+ years of experience in land development design for residential, commercial, and/or industrial projects.
• Strong relationships and knowledge of NC State and local permitting agencies.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and standard engineering design programs.
• Excellent presentation, technical writing and public speaking skills.
• Strong leadership, team building and communication abilities.
• Willingness to mentor and train junior engineers.
• Valid driver’s license and clean motor vehicle and criminal records.

• Excellent understanding of all aspects of the consulting business, especially finance, business development, and contract negotiations.
