Job summary

SCS Engineers invites an undergraduate or graduate civil or environmental engineering student for a summer 2027 internship at our Houston, TX office. The role offers hands-on experience across site development, soil mechanics, and environmental projects with a 40-hour workweek.

Intern tasks include report prep, drafting, site observations, material sampling, and data management. Housing is not provided, and US work authorization is required. The program runs May/June to August/September 2027.

What we are looking for

SCS Engineers is looking for a summer 2027 intern for our Houston, TX office. This opportunity offers valuable hands-on experience in both technical engineering and business operations through a diverse range of client projects while giving you the chance to explore the beginnings of your own career path.

As an intern, you'll work alongside experienced professionals on projects centered around civil engineering principals (i.e., site development, soil mechanics, fluid mechanics, etc.) with emphasis on solid waste facilities, including but not limited to, landfill liner, gas collection system, and drainage design, permitting, and construction; transfer station design and permitting; geotechnical analyses and subsurface investigations; site development; and sustainability projects. You will typically work 40 hours per week.

You will contribute to our projects by assisting SCS project teams with the following tasks:

• Report and calculation preparation
• CAD drafting
• Construction observation and documentation
• Environmental and construction materials sample collection
• Laboratory data management and review

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in civil or environmental engineering required and graduating by June 2029 required. (Preference for those candidates graduating by June 2028).
• Must be willing to live in the Houston area for Summer 2027 (housing allowance will not be provided).
• AutoCAD experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license with a driving record in good standing required.
• Ability to travel overnight for work outside of an office setting may be required.

Pay Range

USD $21.00 - USD $24.00 /Hr.
