Job summary

American Family Insurance is seeking a litigation support professional to assist in all phases of the litigation process under attorney supervision. Responsibilities include legal research, discovery coordination, and preparation of pleadings and trial materials.

You will work with insureds, company representatives, experts, witnesses, and opposing counsel, while maintaining confidential records and meeting court deadlines.

Qualifications

• Experience performing legal research
• Experience preparing pleadings, motions, deposition summaries, discovery responses, and other legal correspondence
• Experience with PC software (Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook, Acrobat, FrontPage)
• Experience with confidential documents and confidentiality
• Knowledge of tort and contract law, procedures, terminology and judicial system
• Experience handling litigation matters in Clark County and familiarity with local procedures
• Knowledge of Nevada civil procedure, discovery, and trial preparation
• Experience identifying, retaining, and managing expert witnesses
• Mentoring or training other legal professionals

Responsibilities

• Draft and manage complex pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, deposition summaries, abstracts, legal memoranda, and correspondence under attorney supervision
• Analyze, organize, and summarize medical records and other case-related documentation for discovery, case strategy, settlement evaluation, and trial preparation
• Coordinate and execute all phases of discovery and case investigation with minimal supervision
• Conduct interviews and communicate with insureds, company representatives, expert witnesses, fact witnesses, and opposing counsel
• Prepare witness materials, discovery responses, demonstratives, and trial support documents
• Support trial preparation, mediations, arbitrations, and hearings with exhibits, witness binders, chronologies, and case summaries
• Maintain and oversee complex litigation files and electronic case records with confidentiality and calendar management
• Evaluate case files to identify issues, assess settlement potential, and recommend further investigation or records
• Obtain, review, and analyze medical, employment, financial records; prepare statements of facts, case summaries, and hearing outlines
