Job summary

Orionplacement in Woodland Hills, CA, is seeking a licensed California attorney to join its civil litigation defense team as a litigations associate. You will manage civil litigation cases through all phases, draft pleadings, conduct legal research, and participate in strategy, negotiations, and trial preparation.

Applicants must have a Juris Doctor, active California Bar membership, and at least 1 year of litigation experience.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Active California Bar license in good standing.
• 1+ year of litigation experience strongly preferred.
• Experience in insurance defense, civil litigation, personal injury, construction defect, or employment litigation is a plus.
• Strong legal writing, research, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced litigation environment.
• Experience tracking billable hours is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage civil litigation cases through all phases with guidance from experienced attorneys.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, responses, and other litigation documents.
• Conduct legal research and prepare thorough legal analysis.
• Participate in case strategy, settlement negotiations, mediations, arbitrations, and trial preparation.
• Attend court appearances, depositions, hearings, and client meetings.
• Communicate professionally with clients, insurance carriers, opposing counsel, experts, and court personnel.
• Maintain accurate billing records while meeting annual billable hour expectations.
• Collaborate with attorneys on complex litigation matters while delivering exceptional client service.
