The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil litigation, excellent advocacy skills, and the ability to manage cases from inception through resolution.
Key Responsibilities
- Case Management: Handle a diverse caseload of civil litigation matters, including but not limited to commercial disputes, personal injury claims, contract disputes, and real estate litigation.
- Legal Research and Writing: Conduct thorough legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other court documents.
- Client Representation: Represent clients in court hearings, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
- Discovery: Oversee all aspects of the discovery process, including drafting and responding to discovery requests, conducting depositions, and managing document production.
- Strategic Planning: Develop case strategies in collaboration with clients and other attorneys to achieve favorable outcomes.
- Client Interaction: Maintain regular communication with clients, providing updates and explaining legal strategies and case developments.
- Negotiation: Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients to resolve disputes efficiently when possible.
- Court Filings: Ensure timely and accurate filing of court documents, in compliance with procedural rules and deadlines.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with legal assistants, paralegals, and other attorneys to support case preparation and management.
Qualifications
- Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Licensure: Active bar membership in the state of practice; additional state licensures are a plus.
- Experience: 8+ years of experience in civil litigation, with trial experience .
- Skills:
- Strong analytical, legal research, and writing skills.
- Excellent oral advocacy and interpersonal communication abilities.
- Proficiency in legal software and tools, including e-discovery platforms and case management systems.
- Proven ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines effectively.
- Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of civil litigation procedures, rules of evidence, and court practices.
