Job summary

Talently is seeking an associate attorney for a civil litigation defense practice in San Diego, CA. You will engage in every stage of litigation, from strategy development to trial, working closely with experienced trial lawyers in a collaborative, professional environment.

You will analyze facts, draft pleadings, manage matters, depose witnesses, and participate in hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations, while mentoring under senior attorneys and upholding ethical standards.

Qualifications

• Active California Bar membership in good standing.
• Strong interest in civil litigation, courtroom advocacy, and trial practice.
• Ability to analyze complex legal and factual issues and develop sound case strategies.
• Excellent legal writing, research, oral advocacy, and presentation skills.
• Strong client, witness, expert, and opposing counsel communication abilities.
• High level of professionalism, organization, and attention to detail.
• Strong work ethic and drive in a demanding litigation environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage civil litigation matters from evaluation through resolution and trial.
• Analyze facts, perform legal research, and develop case strategies.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery responses, and other documents.
• Communicate professionally with clients, witnesses, opposing counsel, experts, and the court.
• Prepare for and take depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts.
• Argue motions and participate in hearings, mediations, settlement negotiations, and trial prep.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys while owning assigned matters and responsibilities.
• Maintain strong case organization, matter management, deadlines, and ethical standards.
