Stone Legal Recruitment seeks an Associate Attorney for its Richmond, Virginia office. This litigation-focused role offers hands-on experience, courtroom exposure, mentorship from experienced trial attorneys, and a clear long-term growth path within a respected regional defense firm.

The practice includes Personal Injury Defense, Auto & Transportation, General Liability, Products Liability, Commercial Litigation, and Insurance Defense.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Maryland and/or DC Bar admission is a plus, but not required.
• Ideally 2–5 years of civil litigation experience, though more senior candidates will be considered.
• Insurance defense experience preferred but not required.
• Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills.
• Experience drafting motions and handling discovery.
• Deposition experience preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously.
• Desire to develop as a courtroom advocate and litigator.
• Base salary generally ranging from $95,000–$150,000+, depending on experience.
• Performance-based bonus structure.
• Annual incentives beginning at 1,850 billable hours.
• Additional bonus opportunities tied to productivity.

Responsibilities

• Manage an active litigation docket from inception through resolution
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and discovery responses
• Take and defend depositions
• Participate in mediations, hearings, and trial preparation
• Appear in Virginia State and Federal Courts
• Communicate regularly with clients, opposing counsel, and claims professionals
• Develop litigation strategy alongside experienced partners and trial attorneys
• Handle increasing levels of responsibility as experience grows
