Job summary

Vernis & Bowling's downtown St. Petersburg office seeks an Associate Attorney for its Civil Litigation Defense department.

The role requires 0-3 years of civil litigation experience with defense experience strongly preferred. The successful candidate will join a team of 120+ lawyers across multiple Florida offices and will participate in discovery, depositions, motions, hearings, settlements, and trials as needed.

Qualifications

• 0–3 years of civil litigation experience, defense experience strongly preferred.
• Florida Bar in good standing required.
• Strong teamwork and willingness to handle trials and hearings.

Responsibilities

• Direct and lead files, provide initial analysis and develop case strategy.
• Conduct discovery, take depositions, draft motions, and attend hearings.
• Negotiate settlements and assist with trials as needed.

Candidates should have 0-3 years of civil litigation experience with defense experience strongly preferred. The successful candidate will be a part of a team of 120+ lawyers located across 19 offices in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, South Carolina, and North Carolina.

Our associates have the opportunity to direct and lead files, provide initial analysis, develop case strategy, conduct discovery, take depositions, draft motions, attend hearings and negotiate settlements. Associates will also be able to assist with and lead trials.
