Job summary

Baker Law Group in Austin seeks an experienced Civil Litigation Associate to join our Texas litigation team. This is a full-time, hybrid role with in-office days and remote flexibility.

The ideal candidate has 3–7 years of civil litigation experience, strong writing and research skills, and the ability to manage cases with supervision from senior attorneys. We handle a broad range of civil matters and offer a base salary of $150,000–$175,000 plus a tiered performance bonus.

Responsibilities

• Manage civil litigation matters from initial assessment through resolution.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, correspondence, and other legal documents.
• Conduct legal research and provide practical legal analysis.
• Manage written discovery, document production, and case investigation.
• Take and defend depositions based on experience and case needs.
• Prepare for and participate in hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and trials.
• Communicate regularly with clients regarding case status, strategy, deadlines, and next steps.
• Evaluate legal and factual issues and help develop case strategy.
• Negotiate with opposing counsel and assist with settlement discussions.
• Coordinate with paralegals and legal support staff to keep matters organized and moving forward.

About the Role

Baker Law Group is seeking an experienced Civil Litigation Associate to join our growing Texas litigation team in Austin.

This is a full-time, hybrid opportunity for an attorney with approximately 3–7 years of civil litigation experience who is ready to take meaningful ownership of cases, work directly with clients, and continue developing as a well-rounded litigator.

Our Texas practice handles a broad range of civil matters, including business disputes, real estate litigation, construction matters, contract disputes, employment-related matters, defamation claims, landlord-tenant disputes, and other general civil litigation.

The right candidate will be comfortable managing significant portions of cases independently while working closely with senior attorneys on strategy, complex matters, and professional development.

What You’ll Do

The Civil Litigation Associate will:

• Manage civil litigation matters and substantial portions of cases from initial assessment through resolution
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, correspondence, and other legal documents
• Conduct legal research and provide practical legal analysis
• Manage written discovery, document production, and case investigation
• Take and defend depositions based on experience and case needs
• Prepare for and participate in hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and trials
• Communicate regularly with clients regarding case status, strategy, deadlines, and next steps
• Evaluate legal and factual issues and help develop case strategy
• Negotiate with opposing counsel and assist with settlement discussions
• Coordinate with paralegals and legal support staff to keep matters organized and moving forward
• Maintain deadlines and manage multiple active matters effectively
• Collaborate with senior attorneys on complex litigation and case strategy
• Develop greater independence and courtroom responsibility as experience grows
• Contribute to the continued growth of Baker Law Group’s Texas litigation practice

Types of Matters

The attorney may work on matters involving:

• Construction and construction-defect disputes
• Business and commercial litigation

Experience in every area is not required. We are looking for a strong civil litigation foundation, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to learn unfamiliar subject matter quickly.

Compensation and Benefits

The position offers a base salary of $150,000–$175,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
