The American Civil Liberties Union of Vermont (ACLU-VT) seeks an experienced full-time Paralegal to support staff attorneys and advance civil liberties in state and federal litigation from our Montpelier office.

Reporting to the Legal Director, you will manage case files, draft pleadings, conduct legal research, coordinate discovery, and help implement e-discovery and record requests. This hybrid position requires strong writing and organizational skills and a commitment to racial justice.

Formación

• Three+ years paralegal experience in a law firm, nonprofit, or courts.
• Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate preferred.
• Knowledge of Vermont and federal court filing procedures.
• Commitment to social justice and civil rights.
• Excellent writing, research, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and in teams; flexible hours.

Responsabilidades

• Manage case files, filings, service of process, and drafting pleadings.
• Coordinate litigation logistics for hearings and meetings.
• Perform Westlaw and PACER research; document retrievals.
• Maintain electronic case files and docket.
• Assist with discovery requests and document reviews.
• Support collaboration with cooperating attorneys.
