Primary Responsibilities

HDR NY/NJ Transportation Business Group is seeking to hire a Civil/Highway EIT/Designer to work on Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build Projects.

The primary duties of the Civil/Highway EIT will include working as part of a team to produce design criteria, plans, calculations, cost estimates, and specifications for highway and civil projects. The candidate should be a team player, ready to work collaboratively within the NY/NJ Civil/Highway Section. Familiarity with local and national codes, standards, and specifications is expected.

Key Responsibilities

• Work on detailed design of local roadway/highway projects, hydraulic/hydrologic analysis, storm/sanitary sewer design, site grading, stormwater pollution prevention plans, utility design, permitting, and coordination with regulatory agencies and other disciplines.
• Take responsibility for alignment, profile, geometrics, drainage, plans, specifications, and estimates.
• Assist with technical reports, specifications, and calculations.
• Coordinate design packages, track quality control reviews, and ensure project schedules are met on design-build projects.

Preferred Qualifications

• MS/BS in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Preferred candidates will have EIT and be on track for NY or NJ PE. Without EIT, candidates will be titled 'Civil/Highway Designer.'
• Experience with NYSDOT, NYSTA, NYCDOT, NYCDDC, NJDOT, and NJTA projects is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team.
• Commitment to our employee-owned culture.
• Local residency in the NY/NJ/CT metro area is preferred.
• Positions available in New York, NY; Newark, NJ; or White Plains, NY.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree.
• Proficiency with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD; familiarity with Bentley ConceptStation, Open Roads Designer, Autodesk InfraWorks, Civil3D.
