Job summary

Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr & Huber offers a Civil Field Internship for Summer 2027 in Macomb, MI. You will help prepare daily jobsite reports, assist in verifying construction meets specifications, and support engineers and inspectors with RFIs.

We are seeking students currently enrolled in Civil or Environmental Engineering, with strong communication skills and a willingness to learn through field experiences, site visits, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Civil or Environmental Engineering program.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Prior experience in construction, field inspection, or testing is a plus.
• Comfortable working outdoors and traveling to project sites.
• Eager to learn and contribute to meaningful infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Help prepare daily reports documenting jobsite conditions and completed work.
• Assist in verifying that construction meets design and contract requirements.
• Support engineers and inspectors with RFIs.
• Participate in site visits and observe project execution firsthand.
• Learn how to communicate findings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
