Key Project Requirements
- 10+ years of civil field engineering or similar experience supporting utility-scale power generation or heavy industrial projects preferred.
- Strong experience supporting combined-cycle, simple-cycle, or other gas-fired power plant construction, including equipment foundations, embedments, and structural interfaces.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications, respond to technical queries, and provide field engineering support to construction teams.
- Strong working knowledge of civil construction quality processes, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), NCRs, turnover, punch lists, and engineering change management.
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Civil Field Engineer to provide on-site technical support for civil construction activities on a gas-fired power generation project. This role will serve as a technical interface between engineering and the construction partner, supporting resolution of field issues and verifying that civil work associated with GE-designed or supplied equipment is performed in accordance with engineering drawings, project specifications, and quality and safety requirements.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide on-site civil engineering support and technical guidance to the construction partner.
- Respond to technical queries and coordinate engineering solutions with the design team.
- Review civil construction activities for compliance with drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Support civil work associated with major power generation equipment, including gas turbine generators, steam turbine generators, HRSGs, foundations, and equipment embedments.
- Review quality documentation, witness required inspections, and document field observations, deviations, and NCRs.
- Support engineering changes, redline/as-built drawings, turnover, completion inspections, and punch-list activities.
- Coordinate with site management, engineering, quality, planning, and construction teams.
- Promote safe work practices, exercise stop-work authority when required, and prepare field reports and assignment closeout documentation.
Job Requirements
- Strong knowledge of civil construction methods for power generation or heavy industrial facilities.
- Ability to interpret civil, structural, foundation, and equipment installation drawings.
- Familiarity with construction quality processes, ITPs, NCRs, turnover, and commissioning activities.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills.
- Ability to effectively interface with construction contractors and engineering teams to resolve field issues.
Education / Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred. Equivalent combination of education and relevant field experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant civil field engineering or similar experience preferred.
- Experience supporting combined-cycle, simple-cycle, or other gas-fired power plant construction required.
- Previous experience supporting civil construction associated with gas turbines, steam turbines, HRSGs, or other major power generation equipment required.
