Job summary

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related field.
• 7–10 years of relevant experience in power generation or major industrial infrastructure.
• Experience overseeing EPC contractors and engineering consultants.
• Strong technical review skills and ability to coordinate across engineering and construction teams.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate civil design covering grading, earthworks, access roads, drainage and underground utilities.
• Review foundations for turbines, generators, transformers and auxiliary equipment, alongside steelwork, pipe racks and buildings.
• Assess geotechnical findings and ensure soil conditions are reflected in design decisions.
• Coordinate equipment loads, anchor details and structural interfaces with suppliers and other engineering disciplines.
• Review calculations, drawings and specifications for technical accuracy and construction practicality.
• Manage consultant scopes and monitor quality, schedule and budget of deliverables.
• Resolve civil and structural issues during design and construction to mitigate risk to delivery.
• Support permitting responses, technical reporting and project due diligence.

Civil & Structural Engineer – Power Generation

Verto People is recruiting a Civil & Structural Engineer to support new power generation projects within an energy infrastructure developer.

Working on the owner’s side, you’ll oversee engineering consultants and EPC contractors, helping turn site conditions and equipment requirements into practical, coordinated designs. Your scope will cover site development, foundations and plant structures, with involvement from project development through construction.

This role suits an engineer who enjoys reviewing and challenging designs, resolving technical issues and making decisions that improve constructability, cost and delivery.

The role

• Coordinate civil design covering grading, earthworks, access roads, drainage and underground utilities.

• Review foundations for turbines, generators, transformers and auxiliary equipment, alongside steelwork, pipe racks and buildings.

• Assess geotechnical findings and ensure soil conditions are properly reflected in design decisions.

• Review calculations, drawings and specifications for technical accuracy, code compliance and construction practicality.

• Manage consultant scopes and monitor the quality, schedule and budget of engineering deliverables.

• Resolve civil and structural issues during design and construction, identifying risks before they affect delivery.

• Support permitting responses, technical reporting and project due diligence.

Your background

• A degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline.

• Seven to ten years of relevant experience in power generation or major industrial infrastructure.

• Experience overseeing EPC contractors and engineering consultants.

• Working knowledge of site design, equipment foundations and structural steel for gas turbine facilities.

• Strong technical review skills and confidence coordinating across engineering and construction teams.

Simple-cycle or combined-cycle project experience would be particularly relevant. A PE license or EIT certification, and familiarity with STAAD.Pro, SAP2000 or Civil 3D, would also be advantageous.
