Job summary

Our client in the heavy civil sector is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their team near San Diego, CA. The role focuses on preparing detailed cost estimates for underground utilities, site development, and paving/grading projects, with coordination across subcontractors and suppliers.

Responsibilities include plan reviews, quantity takeoffs, and bid development, working with project managers, engineers, and field teams to support bids and value-engineering efforts.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of estimating experience in civil construction.
• Experience with underground utilities, site development, paving and grading.
• Strong understanding of means/methods and production rates.
• Experience with estimating software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate estimates for underground utilities, site development, paving and grading.
• Review and interpret project plans, drawings, and specs.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop cost breakdowns.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams.
• Participate in bid reviews and value-engineering efforts.
• Support project startup and handoff meetings.
