Job summary

McAninch Corporation in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking an Estimator/Project Manager with experience in civil and underground utilities. You will oversee planning, pre-construction, procurement, scheduling, and cost control for Heavy Highway, commercial, and residential projects.

The role requires 3+ years in construction estimating or PM, a related degree is preferred, and proficiency with Viewpoint, MS Project, AutoCAD, and BlueBeam REVU. Travel and weekend availability may be required.

Qualifications

• 3 or more years experience in construction estimating or project management for heavy civil and site infrastructure projects required.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
• Experience with Viewpoint Construction Software, MS Project, Agtek, AutoCAD, or BlueBeam REVU preferred.
• Attention to detail and strong customer service skills.
• Proficient in Office 365 including Outlook, Excel and Word.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel overnight (<20%).
• Willingness for extended hours to meet bid deadlines (<10%).

Responsibilities

• Promote and enforce a strong safety culture and ensure policy compliance.
• Prepare quantity takeoffs, budgets, and cost estimates for negotiated and bid projects.
• Develop bid packages, review subcontractor pricing, and make award recommendations.
• Maintain professional communication with customers, subcontractors, and owners.
• Coordinate with field leadership on scheduling, scope changes, and deadlines.
• Support startup activities including preplanning, scheduling, procurement, and crew coordination.
• Manage change orders and project budgets, with cost-tracking and reporting.
• Review invoices for subcontractors and materials for timely payment.
